Code of Conduct

Chitra Bina is a sanctuary for the arts. Since 1994, our reputation has been built upon the discipline, dedication, and integrity of our students. To preserve this environment of excellence and honour the Guru-Shishya tradition, all enrolled members and their guardians are expected to adhere to the following regulations.

1. The Spirit of Pedagogy (Respect & Etiquette)

At the heart of our institute is a profound respect for the mentor and the craft.

  • Traditional Respect: Students must maintain a disciplined and respectful demeanour towards all faculty members.
  • Community Harmony: Courteous behaviour is expected towards fellow practitioners, fostering an environment of mutual artistic growth rather than competition.

2. Punctuality and Consistent Practice

The mastery of any art form, from the Tabla to Kathak, requires unwavering consistency.

  • Arrival: Students should arrive ten minutes prior to their scheduled session to prepare their instruments or attire.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is mandatory for progression. In the event of an unavoidable absence, the administrative office must be notified at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Tardiness: Habitual lateness disrupts the meditative flow of the session and may result in a formal review of the student’s enrolment.

3. Professional Attire & Grooming

To uphold the sanctity of our studios, students must adhere to discipline-specific dress codes:

  • Performing Arts (Dance & Yoga): Modest, flexible attire that allows for precision of movement. Traditional dance wear is required for senior classical sessions.
  • Music & Fine Arts: Clean, professional attire is expected.
  • Sanctity of Space: In accordance with our cultural heritage, footwear must be removed before entering all music rooms, dance studios, and the yoga hall.

4. Stewardship of Instruments & Facilities

Our instruments and facilities are the tools of our heritage and must be handled with the utmost care.

  • Personal Instruments: Students are responsible for the maintenance and tuning of their personal instruments (e.g., Tablas, Sitar, Keyboards).
  • Institute Property: Any damage to the institute’s property, including library resources or studio equipment, must be reported and may incur a replacement cost.
  • Cleanliness: No food or beverages (other than water) are permitted inside the studios.

5. Digital & Focus Policy

To ensure deep concentration and a professional atmosphere:

  • Mobile Devices: Phones must be switched off or placed on silent mode and stored away before entering the premises.
  • Intellectual Property: Unauthorised audio or video recording of sessions is strictly prohibited to protect the proprietary pedagogy of our faculty.

6. Administrative & Financial Compliance

  • Fee Structure: Monthly fees must be settled by the 10th of every month. Late payments may incur a nominal administrative charge to cover processing costs.
  • Certification: Eligibility for formal certification and annual recitals is contingent upon maintained attendance and the recommendation of the faculty.
